Composition :
A-Fenac® SR : Sustained Release Diclofenac Sodium BP 100 mg.
Indications : A-Fenac® is indicated in the following cases : Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, low back pain, injuries and manifestations of soft tissue rheumatism, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout, control of pain & inflammation in orthopaedic, dental & other minor surgery, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, post-operative pain, renal colic & other musculoskeletal disorders.
Dosage & Administration : Usual dosing information : Tablet A-Fenac® should be taken with water during or immediately after meals. Antacid should not be taken within 1 – 2 hours after taking A-Fenac® tablet.
Usual adult dose : Tablet : In adults, the initial dose is 25 – 50 mg three times a day, depending on the severity of the condition.
Contraindications
It is contra-indicated for those patients who are hypersensitive to Diclofenac. In patients with active or suspected peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding, or for those patients in whom attacks of asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis are precipitated by aspirin or other NSAIDs possessing prostaglandin synthetase inhibitinig activity, it is also contraindicated.
Because of the presence of Lidocaine, it is also contraindicated for those patients who are hypersensitive to local anaesthetics of the amide type, although the incidence is very rare.
Side Effects
Pregnancy & Lactation
Lactation: Very small quantities of Diclofenac may be detected in breast milk, but no undesirable effects on the infant are to be expected.
