Indications
Ocupresreg; 0.5% eye drops is indicated for
- Patients with ocular hypertension.
- Patients with chronic open angle glaucoma.
- Aphakic patients with glaucoma.
- Some patients with secondary glaucoma.
Ocupres® 0.5% eye drops is also indicated as concomitant therapy in patients with pediatric glaucoma, who are inadequately controlled with other anti-glaucoma therapy.
Dosage & Administration
The usual dose is 1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily.
Side Effects
Timolol eye drops are usually well tolerated; the following adverse reactions have been reported. Ocular: symptoms of ocular irritation, including conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, corneal hypoesthesis, visual disturbances including refractive changes, diplopia & ptosis. Cardiovascular : bradycardia , arrhythmia , hypotension , heart block, cerebro-vascular accident, cerebral ischemia, congestive heart failure, palpitation, cardiac arrest. Respiratory: bronchospasm, respiratory failure. Systemic: headache, nausea, dizziness, depression, fatigue have been reported. Body as a whole: hypersensitivity reactions, including localized and generalized rash and urticaria.
Precautions
Do not touch dropper tip to any surface as this may contaminate the solution. Beta-adrenergic blocking agents should be administered with caution in patients subject to spontaneous hypoglycemia or to diabetic patients as these agents may mask the signs and symptoms of acute hypoglycemia. Use in Pregnancy: Timolol has not been studied in human pregnancy. Use in Lactation: Beta-blockers are excreted in the milk. The risk of hypoglycemia & bradycardia in nursing infant has not been evaluated. Breast feeding is not recommended during treatment.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Timolol or any of the other ingredient s of this preparation. Particular caution should be exercised with patients suffering from the following: asthma, bronchitis, chronic respirator y diseases, second and third degree heart block and sinus bradycardia less than 50 pulses per minute, peripheral vascular diseases.
