Composition :
Capsule 250 : Cefradine BP 250 mg.
Capsule 500 : Cefradine BP 500 mg.
Powder for Suspension : Cefradine BP 125 mg / 5 ml.
DS Powder for Suspension : Cefradine BP 250 mg / 5 ml.
Paediatric Drops : Cefradine BP 125 mg / 1.25 ml.
Injection 500 : Cefradine USP 500 mg / vial.
Injection 1 g : Cefradine USP 1 g / vial.
Indications :
♦ Skin and soft tissue infections ♦ Respiratory tract infections ♦ Gastrointestinal tract infections ♦ Urinary tract infections ♦ Infections of the bone and joints ♦ Septicaemia
♦ Endocarditis ♦ Prophylaxis of postoperative infections.
Dosage & Administration :
Oral : Adults : 250 – 500 mg every 6 hours or 500 mg – 1 g every 12 hours. Up to 1 g every 6 hours in severe infections. Children : The usual dose is 25 – 50 mg / kg body wt. daily in 2 – 4 divided doses.
Parenteral : By deep intramuscular injection or by intravenous injection over 3 – 5 minutes or Intravenous infusion : 500 mg – 1 g every 6 hours, increased to 8 g daily in severe infections.
Children : The usual dose is 50 – 100 mg / kg body wt. daily in 4 divided doses.
SIDE EFFECTS
Occasional rashes, nausea, gastric discomfort may be reported.
